I faced several challenges with my 9900k and motherboard not functioning properly. I chose AMD instead of continuing to troubleshoot my Z390 motherboard. My goal is to take it to Gigabyte for a potential repair. Currently, my MSI X570 Tomahawk Wifi with a 5800X is working fine, but my boost clocks and Cinebench R23 scores seem lower than others mine. I'm aiming for around 4.5-4.6 boost with a score near 15500. PBO is set to Auto for the best results, though other options like Enhanced Mode give me slower speeds. My CPU temperature is about 75°C, so it's not overheating, but I'm reaching the EDC limit. I've tried adjusting PBO manually, but clocks keep dropping. I'm unsure if I'm doing something incorrectly or if my expectations are too high. Any advice would be welcome.
I share the same CPU as the B550 motherboard. Without PBO, my average is around 4.46 GHz across all cores and a score of 14500 in CB R20. This is likely because I run it through TeamViewer from work—it might improve slightly without extra distractions. I achieved better results and higher clock speeds by using undervolting, though stability wasn’t fully maintained. Boosting to 5.1 single core was possible, but temperatures stayed above 90°C. I plan to test with a new PSU next time.
