You're experiencing issues with a taskbar shortcut on Windows 11 Home that won't clear or remove itself. You've already checked common locations like AppData and cleared related folders, but an Explorer restart didn't help. It seems the shortcut is stuck in place.

I also attempted to remove Explorer Patcher, but it didn’t resolve the issue.

No, I haven't cleared the icon and thumbnail cache yet.

Largely frustrated by removing the icon since the unpinning feature on the taskbar button isn’t functioning

I looked up the steps but the icon remained hidden.

Do you recall the name of that shortcut? It reminds me of a time when I made a file so long Windows couldn't manage, making it impossible to fix. That feels quite similar. On Windows 10, you can locate your shortcuts by pressing Win + R and typing 'shell:User Pinned\TaskBar'—your icon might appear there.

I didn't realize this was available—just tested it on my Windows 10 system. Thanks!

I didn't find it. I only discovered it while searching for a solution for OP. On Win 11, shortcuts aren't added to the taskbar unless you manually place them and restart Explorer.
