I'm testing out an eGPU and the PSU on it had a problem that made magic smoke come out. The nuc box shut down when that happened and won't turn back on now. The power led flashed three times and then stopped working. It's been less than a month, so I got this through Amazon. That shipping took too long though, so I ended up getting a brand new one. I ordered an Acemagic F3A with the Ryzen 9 AI x370 CPU and the 980m iGPU. I bought it on S-i-l for Father's Day, but less than $800 after taxes. I know about that malware controversy from last year, but they said they fixed it. I think they actually did because people were still getting infected when they were watching them online. So we probably won't hear much about that in the future. First thing I'm going to do is look for the EndID and RedLine trojans just to be safe. I'm excited to see how that CPU with the 980m performs in games! The Ryzen 7 8845hs was a beast back then, giving me 100fps in Cyberpunk 2077 and Oblivion Remastered. But I did have 86GB of RAM with 16GB reserved for the GPU. I kept all that RAM so it would fit in the new one. I could do that because the F3A uses DDR5 instead of LDDR5, though benchmarks show a small drop in performance due to this change. In real life, most people wouldn't notice any difference between 5600 and 7000 RAM performance.
