Hey, PC is stuck in a weird boot loop now?
So, while playing a game on my PC, I accidentally grabbed it with my leg and knocked it to the right side. It tipped over just a bit but fell back down by itself after a few seconds. The fall wasn't very hard or severe, but everything froze up inside. I cut off power at the PSU switch, turned it back on, and tried starting again, but still no picture came out of my screen. This has happened before too, and I fixed it by changing which cables connected to the display. I unplugged one DP cable, plugged in another, then waited for the system to boot up without a signal coming through. Then I tried plugging an HDMI cable in as well and switching inputs around after that, but nothing worked either way. Next time, I only used the HDMI connection alone. By some chance, when it was on with just one cable connected, I also had no signal showing up from my keyboard or mouse at all—not even a boot. It did spin its fans loudly for a while before shutting down and going into that weird loop of restarting by itself over and over again. Even after unplugging both HDMI and DP cables, resetting the GPU and RAM, unplugging and plugging them back to the motherboard and CPU power connectors, holding the power button down for a bit more time, everything looked fine but it still kept cycling through those reboots. I checked all my parts to see if there was any crack or if a cable had fallen on something that could cause an electrical short, but honestly, I just can't find anything wrong with them either. It's really confusing because the only thing different from before is adding one of those cables. Can you help me figure out what happened? I have these specific components: Pentium G4600 CPU, Gigabyte B250m-D3h Motherboard, Gigabyte GTX 1050 Graphics Card, 4x 2GB RAM (2400MHz), and Corsair CX650 Power Supply.
Does your computer run POST and go to OS GUI when you take out the discrete GPU? Try setting up the system with just one stick of RAM, the processor + iGPU, and the motherboard plugged into the power supply while it's inside the box. So I was playing a game on my PC, but I accidentally pulled it by my leg and it leaned to the right then fell back down on its own onto the 4 stands. It wasn't really hard or very strong, but the computer froze up. So I cut the power from the PSU button and turned it back on and booted again, but there was no picture on my screen. This is probably because either your motherboard got damaged by falling or a part of it shorted out during that fall. This has happened before If the PC falls like this, then it's not good for your PC.
I meant it has happened before that after crashing or something it wouldn't display anything unless I swapped display cables around a bit. I've breadboarded it and deep cleaned everything, and suddenly it wouldn't even turn on so I paper clipped the psu which worked and I put the mobo in cardboard and it started so I think something in the case is now also shorting it. Oh well. As for the boot issue, I narrowed it to ram slot 3, all sticks worked elsewhere and booted properly, I just don't see any physical damage on either the slot or the back of it so I am kinda unsure what to do, if there is anything that I can do at all
Breadboarding is a way to see what your device looks like. You can look at the picture of that screen here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breadboard and also check this image on Imgur: https://imgur.com/a/bRxUv86
