Do you have a local network with servers? It could be that those servers are messing up the clock by broadcasting it to everyone in your office, or maybe they're just changing the time all over again as they move around during the day and hitting different computers. I had this exact problem in my old job when a neighbor complained about his computer running slow and wrong because of it. After digging around, he figured out that those machines were resetting their clocks at random times every single day.

i have to update it from the internet every few minutes by hand. the pattern is all over the place! sometimes it goes back an hour, sometimes just a few minutes. usually, the clock changes in the mornings and evenings but not at night. i don't have any macOS set up here. i only ran the installation once and then left. it didn't install anything useful. maybe should i try to reinstall windows? but wait, when the computer is turned off, the clock stops working too. so this sounds like a hardware problem.

I'm still totally lost! Is my computer just broken or did I get hit by a magic trick? How could they even make me feel like that without telling me the truth all along?!

Here is "the thing is, the clock stops right after the computer turns off". That means the clock shows the wrong time when you turn it back on. How wrong? Maybe the clock says what the time was before you turned it off. If you leave the PC running and take it off the network or internet for a couple of days, will the time still change? = = = = Look at Reliability History/Monitor instead. There might be some error code, warning, or even an info event just right before or when the clock changes. The time line format can help you spot patterns: for example, something that happens mostly in the morning and around noon. Three other places to check are Task Manager - look for a process starting up at startup that you didn't know about. Task Scheduler - look for a trigger that launches an app, then there are later clock changes. Process Explorer (Microsoft, free) - again, look for an unknown or unexpected process that could cause the time changes. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysint...s-explorer Start keeping a list of all those time changes; note exactly when they happen and how much they change.

I fixed my computer by resetting its settings with a screwdriver and checked the manual. Thanks to everyone who gave helpful advice!
