hey guys i'm having trouble with screen tearing and rubber banding while playing games. i bought a new samsung g7 monitor and started seeing these weird lines when the game runs at 2k resolution. i tried changing several resolutions, turning adaptive sync on or off, even capping my fps and hz. nothing worked for me. i swapped out my graphics card but the problem is still there. i also swapped my ram and it's not fixed either. im really confused about why this is happening at all. any help would be super nice to me since i tried three different monitors and they had the exact same issues. could it be my cpu or mobo? i bought everything less than a year ago and the issue has been there for a while, so i assumed it was just my monitor not keeping up properly. here are all my specs: gigabyte aorus z390 mobo, i7-8700k (never overclocked), gtx 1080 (never overclocked), 32gb g skill trizent z rgb ram at 500gb nvme ssd, and 1tb samsung nvme ssd. my water cooler is a corsair h110 with 3600 mhz ram running at xmp on, all windows updated. im so lost as to why this is happening. thanks in advance

Hey, did you turn on variable refresh for your screen and also check Nvidia settings? Are you plugged into the display port? Which monitor is this one talking about exactly? What FPS limit are you using? Which games did you play that test these things? Was it playing online or offline?

I bought a 24 inch LG ultragear 144hz monitor. I had freesync on and it happened sometimes when playing two different games, like a blurry line through the middle of my screen. Also stuttering happens too. When I turned on vsync, the game got smoother but the blur issue stayed there and wasn't that bad anymore. But it was still happening even though I used display port at 1080p with 144hz. I also bought a samsung oddyssey g7 which has adaptive sync. Same problem. Even if I tried running 2k or 1440p, the tearing got worse and things were super smooth but still had that weird line in the middle. I don't know what's wrong because everything looks fine on my end. My temps are good. I even swapped out my graphics card with another gtx 1080 and it didn't help either. In my control panel, gpu is set to high performance and cpu is at normal level. Task manager shows no spikes or strange things happening there. The gpu uses around 97% of power while the cpu uses about 45%.

Did I set a limit on frames per second, and is that what you want to know about me?

Yes, I did all that work. I turned it on then off again while looking at the monitor screen. I reset the monitor back to its normal settings. Even though I reinstalled Windows and reset my router, things are still the same. I got a new monitor hoping to run 2K or even 1440p in games, but the stutter is happening again with almost no change. It comes and goes about every six seconds mostly when I move around a lot in the game. This only happens right in the middle of my screen.

this article was really helpful. I switched to Variable Sync and chose Fast Mode. that fixed most of my screen tearing problems. thanks so much for helping me out.
