Hey, do you have any idea of a cool sound recorder that works on your computer?
So I used to use a PC sound recorder called Free Sound Recorder. It was really good. The interface wasn't too huge or too small. It didn't feel like Audacity with all its buttons and complexity. Loading it took very little time, and it never made my computer slow down. When you pressed record, you could hold the button first to get a better chance of recording exactly where you wanted. Unlike other software that recorded in random spots instead of your chosen spot, this one worked perfectly when I clicked it. One of the best things about it was the quality improvement before you started recording. They had a boost option that made my audio sound much clearer. And last but not least, it was completely free. Unfortunately, I can't use this software on my new computer anymore. If anyone knows how to fix this for my new machine, please tell me. I'd rather use this than other terrible PC recording programs. In the meantime, since I still don't have one that works well with my new computer, I need another option. I've tried so many different ones. You wouldn't believe it. No matter how many times I try, they always seem to have some flaw or two. None of them match the qualities of this one. So if you recommend any other programs, please ask yourself: do they have all the features that I listed? I need something that works for Windows 11 right now.
Why can't you just use the old one? Have you tried running it as an administrator or in compatibility mode? Windows 11 is really new and hasn't caught on yet, like many other programs have released newer versions recently. So chances are, if you want exactly what you need for your recorder, it probably won't exist because no one made it specifically for Windows 11. Honestly, I haven't found a program that works great on the newest version of Windows 10 but not on Windows 11 either, though there might be some. But if they do, people usually don't talk about them when they complain about problems with 11.
I used to run this program called DBase III back in my day and it was super cool until newer computers didn't have all the features it needed. So instead of throwing away time just trying to fix that, I found other programs that actually work well on them. And I learned how to make those new ones fit. I'd suggest trying Audacity too because it's not hard at all and you'll learn a lot from using it.
This question comes from a thread called "Old software wont work." There is an old program named Free Sound Recorder. It ran fine on my old PCs with Windows XP and Windows Vista. That was great because it made me keep that older PC running as the only option. Now, I can't get it to run on new computers. I tried some forums but...
Audacity is still free and best; maybe it would take some time to learn what you need. First, you don't have to remember when to press Record. Just hit it, then move your mouse to where you want the final part of your recording to begin, click Select, Region, Track Start to Cursor. This shows you the extra audio before where you start, so just delete that part. The same thing works for cutting off too much at the end. For boosting loudness, select all your recording and click Effect, Normalize, and it gets louder. It's easy and only takes a few tries to get the features you want.
