Hey, all my games are crashing on my GTX 1080!
So, recently my games keep crashing all the time! My Zotac GTX 1080 with 8GB RAM is set for Windows 10 using version 526.86. Most of the games work fine at first and join servers, but when I start playing on ULTRA settings in 1080p at 144FPS, they last about five minutes before crashing or closing everything. I have had many Blue Screen errors with Warzone and BF1. I've tried every possible fix to see if it's the driver, the card, or something else. Here is what I did so far: Checked RAM and memory, ran a disk check, did virus scans on two different apps, fixed registry issues, cleaned up with CC cleaner, repaired .NET framework, removed three recent Windows updates (which were from last week), including security patches, uninstalled the newest drivers using DDU, tried automatic Windows updates but they didn't work so I turned them off and disconnected from the internet to stop new changes, then installed a working driver that had worked for months (version 516.93 back in July 2022). I'm really stuck here! I've checked my temperatures while gaming and they stay under 85°C all the time; at high load they usually sit around 70-80°C. I also used Afterburner to set the GPU usage to 90% and limit temps to 80°C, etc. today I tried something different to see if the GPU is actually dying or if it's a software problem. I ran BF1 in Max ULTRA settings for 1080p at 144FPS, and it played well but crashed after about five to ten minutes. After that, I changed things down: capped FPS to 50 and set graphics to the lowest available (720p) to see if heat or heavy load was breaking the game when the GPU got too hot. With these lower settings, utilization dropped from around 90% to just 40-50%, and temperatures went down from 80°C to 60°C. The game still ran for about twenty minutes at this point, which is definitely better than before! But then suddenly the GPU usage jumped up to 100% randomly and it crashed again. I'm not totally sure what's going on, but if the card was staying cool and under heavy load without crashing down the line (like it wasn't heating up or anything), maybe this points to a driver issue instead of something physical like a failing GPU. Hiya thanks for the reply! My OS is version 22H2 and build number is 19045.2251. Here are my specs: CPU is an i7-6700k, motherboard is Asus Z170-A, RAM is 32GB of gskil DDR4 running at 3022 MHz, GPU is a Zotac GTX 1080 with 8GB, and PSU is a 600W Evga bronze.
