Hello everyone, I've been playing tactical FPS games such as the Arma series and Squad series recently. I haven't played Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising yet, but my friend gave me a CD of Operation Flashpoint Red River. After installing it, I started playing, but the first mission felt too difficult. I cleared two villages easily, but the third one was really tough. Anyone have good tips, tricks, and strategies for this game? Also, the troop command feels confusing to me, so I need some help with that.

Yeah both Blacklist and MGSV are really good games, I hope you're having a lot of fun with them as much as I did.
I wasn't suggesting you're not enjoying them, it was just a while since I played so I had to watch a video to remind myself.
I don't remember any issues with the AI commands or strike commands, but I wonder if the squad AI might be just as clueless as the enemy AI and need healing. The video mentioned this, and it also showed how useful the squad and strike commands can be. Maybe it's just about keeping your squad moving after clearing a path—what he was doing. Some AIs tend to get worse the longer they stay in one place.

I remember playing that game a bit long ago. I had to watch some YouTube videos to jog my memory about the first mission segment you mentioned. If you made it through the second battle zone, you should be able to handle the third. The third one mainly needs moving forward and flanking, but it actually involves fewer long-range shots. Just remember to advance carefully—don’t pass by building corners without checking first, and when you spot enemies flanking, eliminate the lead flanker first. The enemy AI aren’t very clever or fast at noticing you. You only really risk getting hurt or killed if you charge into a spot the enemy is already watching or if they realize your position and rush in. Being careful while moving forward is essential.

I recall your previous discussion about choosing between Metal Gear Solid 5 TPP and Splinter Cell Blacklist. Your explanation was clear, and I appreciate the advice you gave. Right now, I'm in Red River, working on my last mission 10. I don’t consider myself too simple—I also play Arma 2 and 3, and I find Red River much easier than those titles. The squad command feels challenging here; my team doesn’t heal themselves and often stand exposed without much cover. They just position themselves in spots, sometimes ignoring cover and getting hit easily (I even send them to buildings for safety, but they leave the windows open). I usually play as a sniper because it suits my preference for taking down enemies from a distance. After finishing mission 10, I plan to try fireteam engagements. I’ll play solo since my friends prefer it for its graphics, though I know those are not the main reason. Still, I enjoy the game for fun, not just for visuals. It seems Bohemia Interactive creates a great tactical shooter experience. Could you share more tips on improving squad control and weapon selection?

I don't remember any issues with the AI commands or strike commands, but I'm not surprised if the squad AI isn't as smart as the enemy and needs healing. The video mentioned that, too, along with using squad and strike effectively. Maybe it's just about keeping your squad moving after clearing a path—what he was doing. I finished the campaign of this game and I really enjoyed it. Now I'm on fireteam engagement. Thanks for your reply.
