Coax connection limited to 150 Mbps on your current plan. Just installed a new modem because the old one was failing, but now you're experiencing drops down to 20 Mbps which is really annoying. You're looking for something beyond what your ISP recommended. A $160 modem offering 10 gigabit speeds would be ideal for your 150 Mbps plan. I appreciate ISPs making custom recommendations.

They likely suggested this option because it’s what the ISP knows would be most effective, not just a random choice.

I don’t have a 10 gigabit plan—just about 150 Mbps. What they recommended was basically useless. ISPs aren’t known for being transparent with customers. For example, when you rent a modem, they push you toward the cheapest option and then charge you a lot more than necessary for a year’s service.

Who manages your internet connection? Which nation do you reside in? What bandwidth do you need, disregarding any misleading claims? Is it possible to purchase your own equipment without incurring additional rental charges?

ISP is on Cox, I'm located in the US. Yes, I can use third-party modems. I expect around 150 Mbps.

Cox may bill you through December, no matter which modem you use, since they have the ability. For gigabit plans later, I’d consider an SB8200; otherwise, an SB6183 works well.

I meant to clarify what I'm referring to. And SB6183 really looks nice! Appreciate the idea Smile)

Cox will keep charging you $10 per month regardless of whether you use their own equipment. They’ll continue this until the new regulation takes effect in December, stopping them from doing what they’re doing.
