Here are a few questions: What do you want to know? Can you clarify your request?
Hello everyone! I’m planning to upgrade my computer and will be adding a 120GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD along with a 1TB Seagate Barracuda drive. Also, I have a 500GB WD Blue drive. Here are my questions: 1) How can I transfer my programs and game files from the old hard drive to the new SSD? 2) How can I remove the operating system from the hard drive (Windows 8.1 update 1)? Thanks for your help!
In a perfect scenario, you should remove your HDDs and install an SSD, then set up Windows. After that, reinstall your games and programs, then restart, reconnect your WD HDD, and back up save data if needed (cloud saves are fine). Using Disk Management in Windows, you can remove the Windows partitions on your HDD and any other unused sections (such as system reserved), then expand your data partition to fill the empty space. If you only have one partition for Windows, ensure all data is cleared before reformatting it. Then reinstall your 1TB drive. Would that make sense? Do you have the Windows installation media? You might try swapping drives and installing an OS by trial and error before finalizing, especially if you're unsure. If you lack the disc or feel uncomfortable, you can use a drive imaging tool to copy your Windows setup onto the SSD, though this may be challenging with large data volumes.
