Hi. I own three laptops: a work laptop, a gaming laptop (Asus Rog Strix), and a Macbook Pro M3 Max 14 inch. I need to use the same peripherals for all three without constantly plugging and unplugging. I’m considering a docking station like the Anker one mentioned below, which is on a Black Friday offer. My monitors are the LG ones listed here. Can I connect them through the docking station while maintaining the 144Hz refresh rate I pay for, especially since I want to play games on my Asus? I’m planning to get a new PC in the near future to replace my ROG Strix, so it will just be the laptop and MacBook I need. I’ve attached my monitors and also have a Dell 4K 60Hz model if that’s all the docking station can provide.
The docking station must handle 144hz, and the HDMI cables are also required. HDMI 2.1 offers the best 144hz performance, but only the LG UltraGear is visible. The gaming laptop supports 144hz, while the Apple model only supports 120hz displays. Ensure the work laptop has an HDMI output for 144hz if you need that feature. It might be challenging to find a docking station compatible with M3 MacBooks; I recommend looking for one that supports 144hz. I’m not certain a work laptop will actually support 144hz, though I haven’t confirmed it.
