You're trying to modify your dock's plist file, but you're unsure where to start. Your laptop has a restricted dock and only allows changes through the right-click menu. Some apps aren't in the taskbar, and deleting them leaves a question mark indicating it can't locate them. After restarting, the dock reverts to the school default settings. You have admin privileges but hardware restrictions are still in place. The school doesn’t seem to care about your changes, which makes things even trickier.
The dock .plist file seems unclear to edit, but ProperTree is a good plist editor I’ve tried on my Hackintosh. It’s highly recommended and works much faster than Xcode.
