Help with overclocking
I'm attempting to push my system's performance and am quite new to overclocking.
My configuration:
MSI B-450 Tomahawk
Ryzen 5 2600 6 cores
Geil Evo Spear 3000mhz 2x8gb
PowerColor Red Dragon RX 580
EVGA 600w 80+ Bronze
Four case fans
Wraith spire stock CPU cooler
In my BIOS I found that the DRAM wasn't reaching its rated speed, so I set it to 3000mhz instead of the default 2800. This helped performance a bit. I adjusted my setup in afterburner to these settings:
Power limit +50
Temp 90
Core clock 1425
Memory clock 2025
Fan speed 100
I also used A-XMP on Profile 2, which gave me a slightly better score than Profile 1 with all settings unchanged:
FPS 56.2
Score 1418
Min 18.2
Max 118.2
Everything was running at Ultra settings with 1920x1080 resolution. Can I find a way to get even better? I tried game boost but it hurt performance. My GPU also crashed at 1500 core clock.
During overclocking with afterburner, I consistently push core voltage, power limiter, and temperature limits to their maximums. After reaching instability, I gradually reduce core and memory settings by 10%. Also, consider setting the window power to high performance.
You don't need high fan speed at 100. You can adjust the fan settings to a more aggressive curve that keeps it cool without causing much noise. This is my setup.

The optimal overclock settings I found were +96 core voltage, +50 power limiter, 1500 cores, and 2200 memory.
