Hey everyone, I downloaded a questionable torrent and accidentally installed some random files. Luckily, Avast blocked a lot of it. Most of it got removed, but whenever I open Chrome, it loads that specific URL. I’ve checked the Chrome settings and told it to open Google, but it still doesn’t work. Can anyone help me remove this page from Chrome’s startup? Thanks!
The extension is called "isearch.omiga." I saved the WOT there because I didn’t want to visit the site directly.
It seems to be an extension possibly disguised as a potentially unwanted program (PUP). It could have been installed in other browsers you use. Simply removing it may not resolve the issue since it often reappears when opening the browser again. Use MalwareBytes to scan and check for removal, and consider Hitman Pro, CCcleaner, or Adwarecleaner if needed.
No one opened the link, but it looks suspicious. Admins need to review this. I’ve had an infection from a site with “gyaso” in its name before. @ Slick
I assumed WOT could be malicious as well. Did you verify across all search engines?
Download Malwarebytes. This was the only solution I found. Windows security essentials didn’t work, and removing it didn’t help either.
