Help upgrading my laptop
I have a lenovo Legion laptop I purchased in 2017
Specs: GTX 1050 2gb, i5 7300HQ 2.50 Hz, 8gb RAM (not dual channel), 1TB HDD
Of course newer games are very slow, so I’m thinking about upgrading after a year. I want something useful for future laptops and to improve this one’s performance in newer titles. Should I upgrade to 16GB RAM?

For the RAM, 8GB is just enough. 16GB would really help.
Upgrading from the HDD to an SSD is clearly the best choice. It will greatly improve performance. The entire system will run much faster.

It might not be practical to purchase upgrades that are portable.
What is your planned future laptop?
A future laptop will likely use M.2 format SSDs, rather than a 2.5" drive that you may need to replace with an HDD.
Additionally, a future laptop may not support the RAM you intend to buy now.
