help upgrading cpu
Hello, welcome! You're looking to upgrade from an i3-10100 to a 10700KF. Regarding the cables, you'll need to remove all the connectors from the motherboard—both the 8-pin CPU socket and the CPU cooler cable. Don’t limit yourself to just one set of cables. As for removing the motherboard, you can usually do it without taking the entire case out, but make sure you have the right tools and follow the instructions carefully to avoid damaging anything.
Only the cpu cooler. If there's enough room in the case you can do it in there. Make shure the PSU is unhooked from the wallsocket and drained. Push the power button after the PSU is unhooked from the wall socket. What's the brand and model of motherboard and cpu cooler? 10700KF is hot and not easy to cool.
the motherboard is an MSI B460M A PRO and the cooler is Deepcool AK620
Sure, everything looks okay right now, and I hope it stays that way for the next few months until I find a better board.
