Hi Everyone,
I’m considering a refresh for my motherboard, processor, and RAM. I’m looking for good value options, especially if I need to overclock the CPU (maybe). The plan is gaming and hosting a Plex server—so at least six SATA ports are essential. I’m aiming for an ATX case and want something durable that won’t need replacing soon.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you prefer sticking with AMD's lower energy usage, the 5800X3D is a viable alternative. It offers solid performance at a reasonable price, though it runs on an older platform. If I were in your shoes, I’d choose the newer options to stay current.

For RAM (assuming you’re still using Team Red), low CAS latency is crucial for AMD processors. In that case, I recommend the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo kit. It’s a 2x16 configuration at 6000 CL30, providing excellent low-latency performance and being AMD Expo certified for optimal compatibility.

You may also want to explore other motherboards. Unless you’re committed to the X670E Crosshair Hero, the MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk is a solid choice. It includes six SATA ports, 2.5G Ethernet, WiFi 6E, and a BIOS flash button for just $220. You don't really need a high-end motherboard like @Why_Me mentioned. A B650/650E would suffice.
