Hi, I own a m271V2 gigabyte monitor and a 4080super. After applying a Windows update and driver updates (I've rolled back both several times), my monitor and games default to 4K resolution. However, changing the setting to 1440p results in a blurry, jagged image as if rendering poorly. This issue appeared when playing BF1, with visible lines across the screen. I haven’t seen this problem with other games, but I’ve experienced very poor image quality. After a clean driver uninstall for my GPU, restarting my PC automatically installs an older version of the drivers, even though they aren’t listed in my documents or downloads. I’m unsure where these updates are coming from. I’m considering a few possibilities:

- A faulty display port cable
- A driver conflict I can’t resolve
- Windows 11 issues
- A problem with the graphics card

Even before installing any GPU drivers, my screen displays a forced 4K image right after booting from a clean uninstall. This situation is quite unexpected and strange. I’ve tried reseating cables, running sfc/scannow, updating multiple GPU drivers, uninstalling games, forcing resolution in the NVIDIA app and Windows (none of these have resolved the issue). My current cable is silver, not gold. I recall an old PC problem where a low-quality cable connected to a hard drive caused booting issues—could this be related to the display port?

If anyone has any advice, I would really appreciate it!

Following a Windows and driver update, my monitor and games automatically switch to 4K resolution. After using DDU to uninstall all GPU drivers (Intel, AMD, Nvidia) in Safe Mode, I manually installed the newest GPU driver from Nvidia's support site via an elevated command prompt—right-click the installer and select Run as Administrator. Even without any GPU drivers installed right after a clean uninstall, the process works immediately. Did you set up the OS in offline mode?

Include the age of the PSU along with its make and model. Also, the current BIOS version for your motherboard.

RTX 4080 super
r7 7800x3d
32gb 3600mghz Corsair Vengeance
2tb SSD
MSI a850GF Gold+ PSU
Fractal North Case
ak620 cooler
w11
msi mag wifi am5 b650
latest bios
everything is under a year old, since I replaced my PC in August after it was stolen. Yes, I set up my PC without Wi-Fi because I had moved flats at the time too :/
Ps: all my devices have the newest drivers available, so monitor. GPU, Windows, etc., are all on the latest versions.

Press the Windows key and type Advanced System Settings, then Hardware, and finally Device Installation Settings. If it's enabled, switch it off to stop the installation of the older August driver version.

Hi there, thank you for your message. It looks like it was already chosen on no. Perhaps the best choice now is to clean and reinstall the windows if I can't find a solution.

I've attempted several driver reinstalls with both options enabled on various installations. It appears the best approach might be a full Windows reinstall? Or it could relate to GPU output or monitor issues.

Hey everyone, I’m facing a serious issue with my 1440p M27QV2. My image quality is extremely poor, and all my games default to 4K. It seems like the images are being scaled down to 40/50% even though I don’t have a 4K monitor. I’ve tried reinstalling drivers and resetting Windows, but I’m still stuck.
