Help Please - Random Signal Loss from GPU
Hello, I’m facing ongoing problems while playing on my PC. After upgrading to an RX6800XT, the monitor occasionally loses signal, switches to standby mode, and then restarts. The computer continues running normally. This happens even when I enable Freesync, and it occurs with both a 1080p 75Hz display and a 60Hz beamer without Freesync. I’m using a 27-inch Acer Nitro with 1080p at 75Hz, running Windows 11 Pro, and everything else seems fine. My system is updated, drivers are current, and the monitor supports DisplayPort but uses HDMI. The issue is most noticeable when playing certain games like The Walking Dead, God of War, Tomb Raider, or Manor Lords. Sometimes I can play for hours before it starts, but it can happen quickly too. I’m unsure what to try next.
You upgraded your GPU and wanted to know about the previous model. Did you remove the drivers from the old GPU? Were you using DDU to clear the previous drivers? Did you install Windows from the ground up with the upgrade? Was the signal loss happening randomly or only in specific games? Can you perform some GPU performance tests, and do those cause signal issues too? Good luck!
I upgraded from an old GTX 1080 with 3GB RAM and never faced the same problems. I cleared the old drivers during installation of the new GPU. However, I didn’t install Windows from scratch. Signal loss happens unpredictably in various games—whether they’re tough or easier like TWD. I tested 3DMark Time Spy and Steel Nomad multiple times without any issues. Thanks!
