Help needed with games crashing
Hey everyone, I've been facing problems with several games crashing lately. A few months ago I upgraded from a 980 to a used 1080ti, and more recently I upgraded the rest of my system. I can still play some titles like Witcher 3, heavily modded Skyrim, and a few others without issues, but most modern games keep crashing.
Here are my current specs:
Graphics card – EVGA 1080ti
RAM – Corsair Vengeance 3200 16gb (2x8)
PSU – Corsair RMX series 850 w (just bought recently)
CPU – I5 13600k
Motherboard – Z790 AORUS ELITE AX
I've installed the drivers myself using DDU, changed my RAM and then switched back, re-seated the graphics card, tried updating all the drivers, reinstalled Windows, checked integrity with OFC, reinstalled games, and used process lasso to adjust priority. At this point I'm wondering if the GPU itself might be faulty.
Event viewer logs:
The event ID 0 description from source nvlddmkm isn't available. It seems the component triggering this event isn't installed on your machine or the installation is corrupted. You can install or fix the missing component locally.
If the crash happened on another computer, the display details were saved with the event. The following data was included:
- Device: Video12
- Error: GPUID 100 occurred
- Message: The resource exists but the message isn't found in the table
- Message: "I get this exact message each time I crash. Temperatures are fine and my frame rates in games are great; don't get BSODs just freezing or crashing to desktop."
Let me know if you need help troubleshooting further.
I believe the problem lies with the discrete GPU. Maybe test with a concurrent or another model GPU from someone else and check if the issue continues.
