Help needed! Screen is tearing in all games at over 150 fps (165 Hz). Monitor issue.
So, I made a topic earlier today regarding some serious screen tearing. Could someone please assist? I have an HP Omen 165Hz G-sync monitor and my system includes an Asus TUF x570 Pro Wifi MB, Gskill TridentZ 32Gb with 3200Mhz RAM, an Asus RTX 2080TI advanced GPU, a 750W master masterwatt bronze PSU, an Amd Ryzen 3600x CPU, and a 2TB SSD. The PC was built a few months ago, but recently I started experiencing screen tearing or micro stutter. I’m playing at around 150+fps, but when I move the mouse it feels choppy or laggy. The texture seems to be moving, making it hard to explain. I’ve tried VSync, but it doesn’t help much. I set my FPS to 163 in the NVIDIA control panel, which improved slightly, but it’s still not ideal. I also tried using a second monitor at 1080p, but screen tearing persists. The display cable was changed without any improvement. Someone please help me, I’m really frustrated.
I understand two methods to prevent screen tearing:
1. Limit your maximum frame rate to match both your monitor's highest resolution and the lowest frame output from your GPU; this usually means keeping it above 200 fps.
2. Employ synchronization software such as freesynch or gsync.
