Good question. It might be possible both ways. Your PSU seems to be about 3 years old. If your friend's PSU is around 850W, you could check its performance.

PSUs usually lose efficiency over time, especially during voltage spikes. I’m considering trying a different PSU just to be safe. Personally, I’m using a 1600W unit but have two 2080 Ti GPUs, and I’m running SLI, so I’m well above the recommended specs.

Another friend has an 800W PSU and a 2070, and he’s willing to lend it to me so I can troubleshoot the issue. Thanks everyone for your support! I’ll share the findings once I’ve checked.

It's good to hear everything functions properly with the GTX 970. When you receive the spare PSU, be sure to reinstall it in your RTX 2080 Super. This ensures you can identify if the problem recurs—it should be the 2080 since the 970 operated smoothly before.
