Began repeatedly from zero. Using only Natural Lighting and Atmosphere settings on the base game would likely severely impact performance.
I think I’ve managed to keep things running smoothly with these changes—Photoreal ENB boosts performance, Skyrim Flora Overhaul HD textures, HD2k static mesh tweaks, and SMIM for realistic lighting. The climate and water effects look great, and the overall feel is much better. I’ve also added a few non-graphics heavy mods like Open Cities Skyrim sounds and an alternative start menu with realistic needs and diseases.
The frame rate stays around 60 FPS most of the time, though it dips occasionally into the low 50s or high 40s—usually only when I’m focused on something specific. Those drops aren’t too bothersome unless you’re watching closely. The trade-off was a smaller render distance for ultra settings, so I didn’t need those long-distance LOD improvements.
If you want more tips, just let me know—I’m happy to help without mentioning SkyUI, since that’s been problematic.
Nexus Mod Manager, TES5Edit, Skyrim SKSE – there’s a lot of pain on Nexus. It’s a massive task, and I spent 12 hours getting 75 graphics mods running smoothly without any crashes. Can’t just summarize this here.
I handle whatever you want to download. If it fails, just remove it.
