today at school I attempted to use my computer club’s AV video editing software, but it wouldn’t let me. I’m trying to edit on the new rig my dad built, and I need a free light editing program available on Yahoo or Google. I’m struggling to complete my homework without spending around $200. Anyone have suggestions?

Lightworks is awesome but it's really hard to use if you are a noob to the subject. Windows Movie Maker isn't bad

There are 30-day testing periods available for several larger software products, offering ample opportunities without significant restrictions.

You might try the free preview of Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing, though I’ve heard Sony Vegas works well as a substitute. It’s clearly superior to Windows Movie Maker.
