Help me decide on a CPU
Looking at your options, you're aiming for a CPU that handles both gaming and video editing smoothly. The 7800x3d is a solid pick for its balance, though the 8 cores might feel a bit limited for heavy productivity tasks. The 7950x offers more power with its 16 cores, but you'd want to confirm if those are really needed for your workload. The 7900x and i7 1300k also have good versatility depending on your specific needs. What’s most important is finding a model that matches your budget and performance goals.
I primarily rely on GPU encoders for video editing. The software supports using GPU encoders for both preview and render. This means you don’t need a powerful CPU; a 7800X3D should suffice. If not, opt for a CPU with more cores.
