Hey everyone, I was about to restart my Windows 10 and the power cut off, then it triggered an error when I tried to restart again. I thought about reinstalling if it would work, but do I need a new Windows 10 key? Should I use a recovery tool or create a USB for another PC? Just to note, I'm installing Windows 10 on the same machine now.
Do you have the previous Windows 10 activation code? It should be linked to your motherboard or stored in your account; if prompted again, the old code should function. When using the media creation utility on the machine without a USB stick, make sure to choose the update option.
You have the key and are transferring it to a USB drive. That’s ready to go. When the installation file appears on your USB, you should be able to remove it directly from the drive, not through the BIOS.
As long as you maintain the same Windows login, you won’t have to rely on the Windows key—keep it handy.
