I removed my new motherboard from the bag, placed the CPU inside, and noticed I was standing on a carpet without proper grounding. Could this affect the device?

It might be possible, though I'm skeptical. I've worked with carpet systems previously—they've all performed well.

Perhaps, though if it's summer and electricity is cheap, it might not work.

That’s the situation right now? It might be an issue then.

Hardware design for static discharge handles these challenges well. Avoid deliberately trying to damage it; harm usually requires more force than you might expect, particularly in humid conditions where static charges dissipate quickly. Be extra careful during colder months when the air is drier. If you notice yourself being shocked, ground yourself firmly and avoid unnecessary movement with equipment.
