Well, it doesn’t really affect gaming performance, except for a bit more system stability. It could possibly reduce noise if you pick a model that’s big enough so the fan isn’t needed. The Corsair RMx series is usually my first choice, though they’re becoming quite pricey. My old RM850x will likely stay with me for a while longer. As discussed, the ATX 3.0 Thermaltake Toughpower are decent. The Corsair RM750e works fine (though some find the fan noisy), and the MSI MAG A series ATX 3.0 models are okay. The RMx line still performs well, but they don’t include the 12VHPWR cable—you’ll have to purchase that separately. This is only necessary if you need it. Only a few cards from the 30 series and 40 series use this setup; most others stick with the 8-pin PCIe standard. That’s roughly a 20% higher cost plus the extra cable for the extended warranty. Still, Seasonic’s top-tier units are very costly too. It seems they’re filling gaps in their lower-end offerings with models not made in-house, so I don’t really bother checking out their Focus lineup.
A fresh PSU probably won't resolve your other concern unless you're sure the GPU has a power issue. It might be an internal problem with the GPU itself. I'd run some basic benchmarks to check if your GPU is operating near its expected performance. You can try a simple test like 3DMark Firestrike or Unigine Valley/Heaven to see if it's functioning properly. If the GPU is the issue, consider upgrading to a new one or PSU.
Performance outcomes for MSI B450M GAMING PLUS (MS-7B87) as per user benchmarks
I believed userbenchmark might be unreliable due to potential biases favoring Intel and/or Nvidia.
It's acceptable to refer to other userbenchmark results. However, it doesn't clearly measure how systems compare in performance.
adjusted my ram settings to xmp profile 1, then saved and closed.
performed the test once more after a clean restart with no background processes running.
