i'm just starting with overclocking and this group,
i need advice on unlocking x4 cores on my machine if it's possible.
my setup is:
cpu - AMD PHENOM 2 X2 555
mobo - GA-770TA-UD3
i've tried unlocking but it didn't work well,
any suggestions would be great
appreciate it in advance

Yes, you definitely need more voltage. I might increase it gradually in tiny steps, until it stabilizes, then once the windows don’t crash, keep repeating until it’s steady in Prime 95 v26.6 on small FFT. If you’re eager, you can jump straight to 1.35 and tweak from there based on stability and thermal conditions. Some users found a stable point around that level, while others needed to go much higher.

In the BIOS there's an option for Advanced Clock Calibration. All you need to do is set EC Firmware Selection to Hybrid, and ACC to Auto. If that doesn't work then you have an older Phenom II x2 and it's not going to work regardless of what you do.

Yes, you definitely need more voltage. I would likely increase it gradually in tiny steps, until it stabilizes, then once the windows don’t crash, continue adjusting until it’s steady in Prime 95 v26.6 on small FFT. If you’re eager, you can jump straight to 1.35 and tweak from there based on stability and thermal conditions. Some users have found a stable point around that level, while others needed to go much higher.

Definitely, you need more voltage. I’d likely increase it gradually in tiny steps, until it’s steady, then once it won’t crash the windows, keep going until it stabilizes in Prime 95 v26.6 on small FFT. If you’re eager, you can jump straight to 1.35v and tweak from there based on stability and thermal conditions. Some users found stability near that level, while others had to go much higher.
My current CPU voltage is 1.500v on the default setting, so a drop to 1.35v is quite a reduction.

Your stock voltage should stay below 1.325v, meaning 1.5v isn't the right setting. This guide provides everything you need if your chip operates smoothly. 1.5v could be too high and might cause immediate temperature spikes, leading to shutdowns or errors. I'm not certain about this, as I haven't tested one of those chips recently, but it seems unlikely.

This guide has everything you need if your chip is going to function properly. 1.5v could actually be too high and might cause sudden temperature spikes, leading to shutdowns or errors. I'm not sure about this, since I haven't used that chip recently, but it seems unlikely.

Check if there are newer bios versions for your board. If not, update accordingly. Then follow the tutorial you found to set up the system.
