Hello, your Hyper X Cloud Core is struggling and you're looking for a new gaming headset. The Corsair Void ELITE Stereo is an option, but you might want to explore other choices too. Since you prefer something without 7.1 or integrated audio USB, consider alternatives that fit your needs better.

there isn't much to criticize regarding the sound quality. however, it doesn't significantly improve over the stereo mode found in any walkman model i've used before.

I owned a Corsair Void and it was in poor condition. The fake leather and plastic finish broke apart, and the dedicated 3.5mm cable came loose from the headset. I’m hoping any newer model will have much better build quality. Last year I got an Anker Soundcore Life Q20 that performed well. It has a wired 3.5mm option and Bluetooth. The wireless version lasts several days on a single charge via USB. It delivers great sound for speakers and microphones.

Were they good in terms of sound quality? The Corsair Void?

I don't like using headphones for extended periods because they cause headaches, but I recently got these earbuds which seem to work well:
https://www.amazon.com/Skullcandy-Dime-T...501&sr=8-3
They feel comfortable, provide good sound quality, are affordable, and don't have pairing issues. I can use them in solo mode and prefer them over the AirPods Pro. I bought them for $26 and they're still 22 days old.
I thought you were looking for headphone suggestions, but I believe everyone should own a pair of these.
