Hi
Hey there, non-tech person.
I’m having trouble with the 3.5 mm audio out socket on my PC. I think the tiny component inside is bad, which means my speakers aren’t working.
My speakers are Edifier R980T bookshelf.
Anyone have ideas on how to connect them differently? I might already have AUX out, but I’m not sure. Or is there a simple solution for this port?
My PC handles everything, and I’m currently using USB headphones.
Thanks a lot!

Your Edifier R980T speakers can link to the PC using Bluetooth. If your computer lacks built-in Bluetooth, you can install a budget Bluetooth USB Adapter such as the ASUS USB-BT500. I have previously used the older ASUS USB-BT400 adapter for several years and it functions effectively.

The straightforward choice would be to purchase a USB to audio adapter that connects to any USB port on your computer and features a 3.5mm output. For instance:
https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-External-...00IRVQ0F8/
Alternatively, you might be able to integrate a sound card with 3.5mm outputs into the system internally, though this would vary depending on your computer's specifications.

I got the adapter and found the Edifiers aren't Bluetooth ready!! It turns out I have a brick-shaped speaker for outdoor use, which I connected through the ASUS adapter. The sound isn't as good as the Edifiers, but it works. I'll need to find a solution.
