I’m uncertain whether to purchase a fan controller or hub. I need to figure out how many headers your Mag Z790 Tomahawk Wi-Fi from Msi has and plan to use 120mm fans for ten total. Also, could you clarify the CPU and pump fan requirements? Thanks!

The MSI mag z790 tomahawk supports six system fan connectors for additional cooling fans. The CPU_FAN1 connects to the CPU cooler or radiator, while PUMP_FAN1 links to the pump in a liquid cooler. Each header is positioned on the motherboard.

It's unclear if this pump can switch to PWM or DC fan modes, though some motherboards support it. At least four fan headers are needed for the setup you described, especially if you limit fans to three per header. Check the motherboard manual for the amperage rating of the fans you plan to use to ensure it matches the recommended limits—most boards suggest around 1A, but newer ones may allow up to 2A or 3A. With seven headers available, managing fans should be straightforward. You might skip a fan hub or splitter if you opt for Arctic PST fans that can be connected directly. More premium setups exist, but the cost could add around $25 per fan.
