He secured his account after being denied access.
I acknowledge it’s Facebook and I suspect it’s likely his responsibility, though it actually belongs to me. The situation: my dad works in advertising via Facebook for his small business; otherwise he wouldn’t have it. I’m not certain how he discovered it, but he set up Google Authenticator with his account. He experienced some phone issues and had it swapped at Verizon for free, transferring everything except his Google authentication tokens. He never linked his phone number to the account. What he can access: he has access to his phone, but most security features redirect him to a page requesting two-factor authentication. He still owns some older phones, and given that Facebook is likely logged in, he probably has the tokens. If you have any suggestions, feel free to share them—he’s trying to promote his business but isn’t succeeding.
He regained access by using alternative authentication methods once Google Authenticator became unavailable.
It was the sole method he had for two-factor authentication, aside from his Google account using SMS verification. After this incident, I won’t try to persuade him to adopt two-factor authentication.
