He messed up my computer!
I recently added another 4 GB of RAM to my computer, and everything worked until I tried to boot it. Then I was presented with two options: restart in default settings or enter BIOS via F1 to configure it. I attempted F1 but didn’t know what to do, so I closed the BIOS. Now, whenever I try to boot, a black screen appears. I’ve changed the RAM a few times and made sure it’s securely placed, but the issue persists. Anyone have any advice on resolving this?
Are you sure all cables are properly connected and not loose? Also, verify that your drives are listed in the BIOS and the boot settings remain correct.
Yes, it functioned properly prior to the installation of the additional RAM module.
It seems you've installed your first RAM module and then added a second one, but the BIOS prompted you about its configuration. For optimal performance, both RAM sticks should operate at identical speeds and timings. Since you didn't provide any details, the system isn't starting properly. You can attempt to access the BIOS settings and reset everything to factory defaults if needed. If that fails, try resetting the CMOS by removing the small battery, letting it sit for a few minutes, then reinserting it. Also, sharing your motherboard model, CPU type, and current RAM setup would help troubleshoot further.
Try entering BIOS, if it resets back to defaults, turn off the PC, reinstall all drives and check the outcome.
