He has been turning on the PC several times before. Yesterday we set it up with Windows, drivers, and a game – everything seemed fine. Now he’s back from work and reports no output at all. The machine powers on but nothing appears on his TV. He also said there was no power reaching the front USB ports, and neither the keyboard nor the mouse lit up. I asked him to re-seat the graphics card, which he did, but it didn’t help. I tried cycling through the TV inputs, but that didn’t work either. He mentioned clearing CMOS, but he can locate the pins on the motherboard. I checked online images, but none were clear. The manual was confusing and didn’t provide much help. My Gigabyte board, which I purchased three years ago for a fraction of the cost, has been reliable for three years now. I ran a memory test with the RAM set to 3GHz yesterday, and everything checked out—no errors detected.

Verify the HDMI connection and try a different port on the card (such as DP or DVI). Does this RX-460 model feature any PCI-E ports? If yes, examine those as well.

He confirmed the HDMI cables were checked several times. The TV doesn’t support DP or DVI-D. The RX 460 runs entirely on a bus system, so no PSU connection is needed. Any further advice?

I could suggest testing another card to determine if the problem lies there, provided you have one available for evaluation.

Can it link to a screen using DP, DVI, or HDMI connections? If the HDMI input isn’t working, verify the connection by checking the port or using a different cable.

I own my own card and could take it to his place tomorrow. Also, would it be better for him to visit since I have a variety of hardware at home to check what works? I have three different keyboards and mice, two monitors, plus my personal system with many cables, including displayport.

Check the power supply unit with a multimeter or by testing its output voltage.

It has functioned flawlessly over the past three years, performing without issues yesterday as well. I believe it’s not the power supply unit.

These issues occur regularly. A perfectly functional PSU can suddenly fail without any explanation. I’d just verify to complete the task.

He got the board working and everything else fine. The power supply is solid, and he even upgraded the screen. But nothing’s coming out. It looks like the graphics card might be the problem. I’ll head over to his place once I have time.
