HDMI 2.1 connection to TV and monitor (also works as a TV) with RTX 4090 issue
Hi there, I recently connected a fiber HDMI cable from my living room to my office setup where I have multiple monitors. My main display is an LG C2 42 using HDMI, and a second Samsung monitor via DP for another display. My GPU is an RTX 4090 with just one HDMI port. In the living room I have an LG CX 65, giving me two HDMI 2.1 capable screens. I need to switch between them easily—only using one at a time works best. In the office, I use the other two monitors. I purchased this product from Amazon (link provided) so I could toggle the displays with a button. It worked for a day, but then I noticed visual glitches that resembled flickering or artifacts. They appeared only on the LG C2 42 when connected to the fiber HDMI, sometimes disappearing after a cable change, and reappeared the next day. Other licensed cables didn’t solve the issue. The problem seems to happen when more than one cable is used simultaneously, especially with G-Sync disabled. I also tried a bridging adapter, but it didn’t help. Is there a solution for this specific setup? Or is it related to HDMI 2.1 standards and using two cables together? I’m hoping someone can assist me with this. Thanks!
The issue might be with the flickering screen or the CX 65 in the living room. The length of your HDMI cables isn't specified. The problem could stem from the switch (possibly a low-quality one) or the HDMI cable itself. These passive HDMI couplers simply connect two HDMI cables, like an extension.
the c2 is experiencing problems. The cable from the pc to the switch is 25cm, and from the switch to the monitor is 2 meters. I've tried various cables—3 meters, 1 meter, even some generic ones and the Xbox Series X cable. I also forgot to mention that this is the second HDMI switch I ordered; the same issue persists. I plan to test a fiber HDMI connection from the switch to the C2 or look for better quality cables. The switch worked on the Xbox for about 10 minutes without issues.
