Hdmi
Hello, just checking if this might harm my hard drive or RAM without a graphics card. At first, I accidentally bent my HDMI cable on the motherboard twice. It looked fixed, but I wondered what others would think if it was safe to use. Would it cause a short circuit and damage my storage devices, CPU, or would it be okay? I’m getting a new motherboard soon, so I want to know now. I’m asking as many people as possible to get their opinions. So far, one incident showed a short circuit once, and all connected HDMI ports stopped working until I reset them. As for the motherboard lights, they were on from what I saw.
The photo was essential. I wouldn’t have imagined it without it. I assumed such extensive damage couldn’t happen without a vice and a hammer. I’d never allow that cable close to any machine I personally invested in. I’m not sure what materials the inside of that cable is made from. Some HDMI cables are “active links” with integrated chips in their connectors. If that’s one, I’d probably just mark it as likely to fail at over 90% and risk damaging my device because HDMI can carry actual DC voltage above 50%. Someone more experienced with those connector details could probably improve that assessment. My comments come from a place of uncertainty, and that’s me.
