I own a Sapphire Vapor-X HD 7950 3GB Mhz Edition, which was upgraded to 950Mhz from its stock 850Mhz. But whenever I attempt to overclock, it reverts back to 850Mhz on turbo and doesn’t progress further. Disabling the turbo boost also doesn’t help; after being overclocked, it reaches its target briefly before shifting between 858 and 500 for about a minute and then stabilizes at 500Mhz without changing.

do you have several operating configurations active?
are you observing these outcomes while performing a stress test? since the system reduces power usage when idle.

Are you using several different utilities?
Could these results be from a load test? Since power drops when idle, I’m checking for lower power consumption during testing.
I’ve used AMD Overdrive from Catalyst, MSI After Burner, and Sapphire Trixx—all gave the same outcome. I wasn’t running them together or under full load on FurMark, Heaven, or CSGO. Even with SGMiner forcing overclock, it worked the same.
If the issue persists, could it be related to power problems?

Make sure the driver matches your GPU and OS precisely. I’d remove Sapphire and Afterburner to focus only on the run overdrive. The results should be clear. For power, I think a 450-watt PSU is enough, though it’s a generic brand—your responsibility.

Start by verifying the driver compatibility with your GPU and OS precisely. To simplify, I’d remove Sapphire and Afterburner, just overdrive. I own a R380 and OCP with overdrive as well, along with Afterburner. It should be simple.

Regarding power, I’m unsure. A 450-watt PSU seems adequate, though it’s a generic brand—your responsibility.

I removed Trixx and Afterburner, updated everything, and everything now stabilizes. It runs at 500Mhz idle, and even with the OC boost, it only reaches 850Mhz, even after resetting the OC settings.

Ps. This wasn’t a high-end model.
