Which MB is it? Not every MB can provide sufficient power for OC.
CountMike shared his experience about which motherboard could handle the required power. He realized the problem wasn't with the CPU but with the motherboard's capabilities. He decided to overclock anyway because he couldn't run high-end stress tests like prime95.
As long as you can operate SW smoothly, running tests isn't necessary. In my view, stress tests are only useful for fixing issues.
CountMike:
As long as you can run SW without issues, you don't really need to run torture tests. In my view, stress tests should only be used for troubleshooting.
What exactly is SW? I've been using cinebench for stability testing.
SoftWare, any programs you usually use like games and apps, if they function properly, the whole system remains stable. When running benchmarks, make sure to compare results one at a time using the same version, as otherwise outcomes might differ. Cinebench works well but isn't ideal for games.
3D Mark, Heaven Benchmark or OCCT offers comprehensive testing across various games, with graphs and detailed reports available.
The site at http://www.3dmark.com/ provides benchmarks for multiple game types.
The Unigine benchmark page at https://unigine.com/products/benchmarks/heaven/ covers general gaming performance, while http://www.ocbase.com/ serves as a broad testing tool for system evaluation.
CountMike shared several resources for comprehensive testing including 3D Mark, Heaven Benchmark and OCCT with graphs. Websites like 3dmark.com and unigine.com offer general game benchmarks and system evaluations. The links provided are useful for overall performance analysis. Thanks for the assistance! I might use furmark because it's already installed.
