Yes, that's true. The bad drive isn't part of the operating system, but that's exactly where all my editing programs live.
Does this problem happen only when that bad drive's software is running? It could also lead to these annoying BSODs. In any case, if an HDD has even one small error, it needs replacing. Doing so saves you from headaches and keeps your valuable data safe, especially since making money or spending free time on a failing drive is just a waste of resources.
actually, that only happens when the software from this drive is running. I planned to swap out my hard drive this weekend but the store gave me a new nvme drive that isn't unpackaged and doesn't have a heatsink. So I'll have to wait a little longer before testing it with the new one. I did order a new motherboard, maybe I can install it tomorrow (though the packaging was opened by the store, so I don't really trust it).
