I have an Intel Core i9 10900 not overclocked on an Asrock B560m Pro4. I currently use 16GB (two 8GB modules). My setup runs Team Force Vulkan-Z with a memory clock of 3000MHz and timings 16-18-18-38. I’m considering a 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX kit (two 16GB modules) clocked at 3200MHz with timings 16-18-18-36. Would this be acceptable? I need more than 32GB and want to avoid wasting my existing RAM. I’m unsure about the B-die configuration, but I’m open to downloading a tool if needed. I’d appreciate advice on how to install and configure the sticks—should I place the 16GB modules together or split them (e.g., one 8GB and one 16GB) in the same channel? I've experienced success with a combination approach, though this wasn't available on the lga1200 site. If you're using more than 16GB and need extra memory, purchasing the additional kit makes sense. But if you rarely push your current configuration to its limits, it's fine to keep things as they are.
As long as both RAM sets are listed on your motherboard’s compatibility QVL, they should function. Faster modules will, however, be restricted to the slowest or same type you use. Their speed will adjust to match your least powerful RAM unit. This tends to be unpredictable—success or not. If it works, stability might be an issue. You may encounter no problems at all. It’s not advised to follow your request directly, but it can succeed. As long as performance stays within limits or you’re comfortable with the slowest speed, it should be okay. Place your existing sticks in their original slots and insert the new ones in the remaining positions. Arrange similar sticks together in their channels, like (Old Stick, New Stick, Old Stick, New Stick). Remember, it’s often a trial-and-error process. I’ve mixed RAM types and brands in my devices, and they all performed well. If you’re concerned about discarding old units, you can always assemble a new or refurbished system using budget components.
