Hello everyone, I assembled my computer in 2014 and it might require some component upgrades. Let me explain the issue I'm experiencing and then detail my system specifications. My primary game is Fortnite, and I’ve configured all graphics settings to their lowest levels. I even increased the resolution to improve frame rates and enhance gameplay smoothness. Nevertheless, I consistently fail to achieve the desired frame rate; I typically average around 140 frames per second while others maintain a consistent 240+ FPS. I'm seeking advice on potential improvements or replacements for my hardware.

Components:

Motherboard: MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming (LGA 1150, Intel Z87)
Processor: Intel Core i7-4790K (Devil’s Canyon, 4.0 GHz)
Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FE
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro
Case: Thermaltake Core V71
Monitor: ASUS VG248QE 24" Gaming Monitor (144 Hz, 1ms)
Storage: 1 TB WD HDD + 256GB Crucial MX100 SSD
Power Supply: CORSAIR HX750 750W Gold Certified

Everything appears normal.

Have you completely deleted your graphics card drivers (including older versions)? If not, Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) is a useful option – however, the "clean install" choice within the Nvidia driver setup isn't always entirely effective.

To be clear, when playing Fortnite, what graphics settings and resolution are you using?

Although I don’t personally play this game, I’ve noticed reports of approximately 100-150 frames per second on Epic mode at 1080p, with 200FPS achievable using High or Medium settings at 1080p.

What version of your operating system are you using? Have you installed the latest driver updates? Are you tracking temperatures? (For both the processor and graphics card?) What is the percentage of usage for your CPU, GPU, and RAM while playing games?

I recently upgraded my operating system, and I perform a full reset of my solid-state drive annually. Nevertheless, I haven't previously observed my temperatures or resource usage in real time. It’s possible to monitor this data using the Performance tab within Task Manager. My processor is equipped with a water cooling block, and I can gather those figures later today if required.

A factory reset isn’t equivalent to a fresh installation. Simply resetting may leave behind residual operating systems and drivers that could lead to problems—though this isn’t assured.

The Task Manager lacks the functionality for temperature tracking.

MSI Afterburner enables you to develop an on-screen display (OSD) that can be customized to show desired performance metrics:
https://www.msi.com/page/afterburner
HWMonitor is a separate application capable of monitoring temperatures—however, it requires switching windows to view the data or running it on a secondary screen.

The graphics card temperature averages 55°C.
The central processing unit temperature typically ranges around 50°C.
Graphics card utilization varies between 45% and 55%.
Central processing unit usage fluctuates between 45% and 55%.
Memory usage consistently maintains a level of 7700.

Do the temperature and resource usage figures I’ve shared reveal any anomalies?
