No one has shared their SteamOS experience in comparison to Windows 8.1 or Ubuntu. It's unclear whether it improves FPS or offers a smoother gaming feel, or if it's mainly about the ecosystem around it.

It's a system built around Unix OS... I've mostly tested it in a handful of indie titles, but they performed much smoother on Windows and Fedora than in SteamOS.

It could marginally increase your FPS. However, the options are limited.

That's correct. The conclusion leans toward a tailored solution rather than a fully standardized one, emphasizing practical advantages.

This update won't increase FPS. If you prefer more customization, stick with Windows. Some Linux versions of certain games only offer a "Quality" adjustment, making it hard to fine-tune graphics settings. I think the installation process is a bit tricky at the moment. Switching between desktop and SteamOS users feels cumbersome, and manually running a post-setup script seems slow. Still, the OS appears solid and improving steadily.
