I received the latest update on Wednesday. I checked my hanger, ships, and outside of it. It seems okay. Then I decided to explore further—though it turns out I can only fly a hornet. This changed? I was really hoping to use my new Merlin. I’ve been without my laptop since mid-August because it died, but I’m not feeling great. Maybe I misremembered or did something wrong. Need help?

The most recent time you played was recently. You need to use either the pod/capsule or press escape to open the Arena Commander module. Simply stepping into the ship's seat won't turn on all vessels in the hangar. Remember, under free flight you can access a dropdown under the ship name to switch ships. Also, check the RSI site for a list of your ships. I can confirm the Merlin is indeed operational.

They did reference a quicker version of Merlin... and because I recall the original person mentioning another Merlin, it could be the case.

The p-72 is the racing version (Archimedes), yet it was never sold alone and only part of the Phoenix constellation. The sole Merlin in the game is the present p-52. Additionally, he never mentioned otherwise—just 'new.' The p52 Merlin is the only one available for purchase (priced at 20usd), meaning there are no other options he could refer to.

It has been a while since August when I last played. The only ship listed in the free flight is the Hornet, and I don’t own that one. I assumed my ships would appear there too. I understand that placing them in the hanger doesn’t help. I actually have both the P-52 Merlin and the Constellation Aquila separately. Yes, I posted a different thread earlier and got confused about the Merlin being part of the Constellation versus my own separate ship. That’s fine. There might be a new racing version of the Merlin recently—a P-72. No, the one under the Constellation isn’t the P-72; it’s an earlier version of the P-52 Merlin, which I created in response to my original question in another thread. What I’m sharing here is my confusion about the free flight.

When you possess a ship without ownership in free flight, it happens because the vessel serves as a 'loaner' until your primary ship is prepared for flight. The issue seems to stem from the constellation not being available and the assumption that it includes a Merlin, which isn't accurate. You can only operate a Merlin if you have the separate 'extra' Merlin purchased. If the Merlin is considered part of the ship automatically, it likely remains in the 'not ready' state. In this scenario, the best approach is to wait, submit a support ticket, or post on the RSI forum requesting access to fly the ship as you technically own it. This should clarify any confusion.
