Have you experienced any power problems?
I recently assembled a custom SFF PC and have faced some problems. The main concern is its sudden shutdown—no BSOD, just it powers down completely and restarts. Another issue seems linked: when USBs are connected to the front I/O, the power button fails. My thought is the PSU might be too small, even when the GPU or front I/O are active. I’m not spending much on upgrades since this is just my PC for work downtime.
Extra note: the front I/O is only a USB cable from my NexDock. The rear I/O is under the PC, making it hard to plug and unplug from there. Any ideas or simple fixes would be appreciated.
Specs: CPU 12600k, no overclocked GPU, 2080ti GPU, underclocked PSU 700w SFX. This model came with the HYTE Revolt 3 case, 32GB DDR5 5600MHz RAM.
P.S. These incidents usually happen when I’m playing MW2 or running a light background game while watching YouTube.
The embedded PSU quality matters more than just power capacity—it reflects reliability and craftsmanship, like a well-made Chinese product.
GPU is underclocked but thanks... and the 5600 is XMP which is the rated speed of the RAM so technically stock.
It appears you're looking for confirmation about the IBUYPOWER SFXL-A700GD-IBP. It seems to have a fake 80 Plus Gold certification. You mentioned it's Tier C, but it isn't compatible with a 3080. Also, you asked about the motherboard BIOS status.
It seems the BIOS is outdated, about three versions behind, and I’ll need to update it soon this week. The card is a 2080ti that draws around 450 watts—probably enough for the setup. I’m not sure of the exact figures, but I think 700 watts would suffice since I haven’t been overloading the system. I already had the GPU when I upgraded my main machine.
I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the 3080. The fake 80 Plus certification really worries me. It seems only suspicious companies would try such a thing.
Underclocking equals overclocking—it changes how the hardware works and only causes instability. Use a 750W-850W brand PSU and eliminate the underclock.
