Have you ever lied in an online game?
I once installed a public hack for COD 4, disabled Punkbuster, and tested non-protected servers. I left the entries unremoved and got banned when playing legit on PB servers. Someone told me to remove the CFG from the site because it mentioned a line that prevented anything from running, but I was unfazed. I didn’t cheat and did this when I was younger.
I’ve never gotten hacks, but I’ve done the following:
- Used exploits from hackers for free items
- Misused bugs without causing issues
- Leveraged poor ping or unstable connections
- Exploited my own lack of skills (quickly beat a window in FPS)
- Spent real money on things (really shocked!)
- Been rude to someone just because I enjoy being an asshole sometimes
I haven't played Runescape much lately, but I've been tricked a few times before. Still, I took advantage of the "4th of July" quadruple XP event in Red Dead Redemption. I went from level 1 to level 50 in under a day.
I used to play 120-0 against 30 opponents on MOH:AA using only see-through walls and chamo skins. I was really good. Sometimes I outperformed the aimbottlers.
I often cheated in many games. On most ones I played I was the popular "cool hacker" who got respected, usually because I avoided causing problems or taking over the whole server. Folks assumed I was an admin. I was also legit quite a lot of the time—especially on weaker servers or games I didn’t take too seriously.
