Have you encountered any issues with your used GPU?
Hello everyone, I'm going to put all my hardware down below and then explain my issue. Sorry if my English isn't perfect.
The motherboard is a Gigabyte A320M S2H revision 1.1.
The CPU is a Ryzen 5 5600G.
GPU: XFX RX 5600 XT THICC II PRO [used]
RAM: 2 x 8GB 3200mhz Hyperx
PSU: NZXT C750 750w
Storage: 1 x SSD 128GB, 1 x M.2 SSD 500GB, 1 x HDD 320GB
My problem is that I previously had an R5 2600 with a GTX 1050 Ti. Both had the same RAM, motherboard, and storage, but I used a different PSU—my Corsair CX550—and then upgraded to a new CPU (R5 5600G), followed by the GPU (RX 5600 XT). Everything worked fine at first. When I switched to the new GPU, the PC would turn on briefly, then shut down after about five minutes. I tried restarting it several times, but it wouldn’t power up again. The fans and RGB stayed on for almost a second before shutting down completely. After a few seconds, the RAM RGB would come back on, but that was it.
I spoke to some people who said my PSU was the issue. I replaced it with a new one (NZXT C750 750w) and installed it at home. Surprisingly, it worked the same way—just turned on for a second before shutting down. Others suggested the GPU might be the problem, but I tested it in my brother’s PC setup, which functioned perfectly for about 30 minutes. They also checked temperatures and confirmed everything was normal.
So, what should I do next? I took the PC to a technician who told me the motherboard couldn’t handle the new GPU. They mentioned they installed a 1080 and it didn’t power on either. However, when they tried it with a 1050Ti and a GT730, it worked fine.
I’ve updated my BIOS to version F55 (which is older than the latest). I’ve reset the BIOS already.
I’ve tried different PSUs and selected the first option to boot the PCI connection.
One more thing: when the GPU is connected, all fans spin up and RGB lights come on, but the GPU fans don’t activate at all—not even for a second. The small RGB on top also fails to turn on.
Currently, I’m using the graphics card from the R5 5600G. My main concern is whether I need to replace the motherboard. I’m on a tight budget and have already spent money on a new PSU.
The tech team's assessment seems incorrect; the motherboard should support both 1080 and 5600XT configurations. The used 5600XT might be the problem—did it previously run for crypto-mining? Check if both your 8-pin and 24-pin power connectors are securely connected to the motherboard and PSU (if modular). Ensure you're using only cables compatible with the new PSU, not the old one. Also, confirm whether you're overclocking any components like the CPU, GPU, or RAM. Stop if necessary.
It might be an issue, it seems odd that any GPU connected via the PCI cable from the PSU isn't functioning.
