Hey there! Your 7900 XTX is experiencing frame drops in many games at 4K resolution. With a Ryzen 3900X, 64GB RAM, and a 1200W power supply, you're in a solid setup. Consider upgrading the CPU if performance bottlenecks persist, but first check if your current GPU can handle 4K smoothly. If not, a CPU upgrade might be necessary.

Choose a 5700X3D or 5800X3D. It's simple to identify the bottleneck by tracking GPU usage.

I agree, the 3900X offers speed but falls short against the 5800X3D and 7800X3D. A Ryzen 7600X would also provide a solid improvement.

5800x3D would be a significantly better gaming CPU. With your 1000$ GPU, you should definitely opt for the top-tier CPU available on the platform. At 4K resolution, the performance gap lessens for average FPS, but the minimum speeds increase noticeably, which can help reduce frame drops.

Consider the budget-friendly options available. 7800X3D supports AM5, while a B650 motherboard with DDR5 6000MT/s RAM at 30mm CL30 is an upgrade path if you have the funds. For those on a tighter budget, 5800X3D works with an AM5 socket and 7800X3D offers a solid alternative.

Many more users should understand Intel PresentMon. Its straightforward GPU Busy vs. Frametime chart displays live updates on when your GPU is constrained—by your CPU, game engine, etc.—giving you clear visual feedback without any assumptions.

I've been enjoying COD, Fortnite, Rust, and Lethal Company lately. All of them experience significant frame drops whenever I turn around. In Lethal Company, after roughly thirty minutes, my screen flashes white and black before the PC restarts. It seems like the graphics card is causing the issue.
