Hello, the issue started yesterday with my Ethernet connection. I just unplugged the cable while cleaning my PC and then tried plugging it back in. Now the internet isn’t working at all. I’ve been checking for problems and found that the system reports an invalid IP setup. I searched online for fixes and came across a few links, but none seem to help. When I try solutions like "ipconfig/renew," I keep getting the message about not being able to reach the DHCP server. This is only affecting the Ethernet connection, not my Wi-Fi which is fine.

Is there a visible physical link such as a green light? Typically you should see a consistent illumination (green or orange) and another that flashes when activity occurs (green or yellow). Consider reattaching the cable and inspecting for any dirt or debris inside. To ensure proper IP configuration, your PC must connect to the router with an active DHCP server providing IP addresses. Since Wi-Fi is functioning, that should be fine. The 169.254.x.x address appears when Windows cannot obtain an IP, indicating a possible network issue. It seems the cable might be faulty—perhaps a damaged wire inside could disrupt the connection permanently. Try using a different cable to rule this out.

On my Ethernet connection it flashes unpredictably (orange light), sometimes quickly and other times slowly. The router shows a steady yellow-green blink. After first setting it up, it didn’t appear on my computer at all. I tried turning off the PC, unplugging everything, and waiting 15 minutes before reconnecting. This seems to be what happened in your case too.

It's finally functional—I just swapped out the Ethernet cable, and it works now. Thanks!
